Description
If your horse is a good doer, it is probably at risk of obesity, laminitis and/or founder. A Best Friend Deluxe Grazing Muzzle is a great way to help reduce this risk. These muzzles are the top-rated grazing muzzle because of their superior design, comfort and durability. They are recommended by equine health professionals because they help prevent laminitis, founder and obesity, while allowing the horse or pony to continue to mix and socialise with the herd.

“Best Friend Grazing Muzzle” is Editors Choice, New Zealand Horse & Pony
“I used the Best Friend Deluxe grazing muzzle for years and highly recommend it. Be sure to measure for proper fit, and follow the instructions for adapting your horse to it before turning her out in it”
Francis F, UK
“I’ve always used Best Friend grazing muzzles for all of my horses as they simply limit the amount of grass my horse can eat, rather than restricting it completely. I’m also happy knowing he can still drink normally and will be comfortable”
Alex, Cambridge.
“At my barn, we use Best Friend muzzles and they work great, and you don’t need to leave a halter on for them to work. They work great for school ponies who would get fat if they were allowed to graze with out a muzzle. I love this muzzle, as it is really easy to put on and easy to clean and easy to deal with when I am the only person at the barn and the only person to do all the work…”
L Driver, USA.

Sizing Guide
How to Measure Your Horse for the Optimal Fitting Muzzle:
Most horses wear the same size muzzle as halter, but not always. After choosing a size, check the depth and circumference of the muzzle. Because horses’ heads are generally tapered like an ice cream cone, measuring the circumference of the face at the right spot is critical to finding the correct size muzzle.
Stand to the side of your horse looking at the profile of his head. Start at the tip of his lips (where your hand would be if you were to give him a treat) and measure up towards his ears to confirm the depth of the muzzle you think you need. For example, if you think your horse needs the “horse” size and you want the Deluxe style, you would measure up his face 19cm (refer guide below).
At this point, measure the circumference keeping the tape snug. If the circumference of your horse’s face at this point is 58-60cm, the “horse” size Deluxe would be the best fit for your horse. Your horse will need at least an additional 5cm for chewing and normal, regular movement of the jaw.
If your horse is in-between sizes, get the larger size. The muzzles are intended to have a roomy fit to avoid rubbing.
Sizes:
Mini: – Circumference x depth= 50cm x 14cm. Suitable for larger miniature horses, typically less than 9.5hh and weighing 90-140kg. These are known as Category B miniature horses. Mini sized muzzles are also suitable for weanlings.
Pony: – Circumference x depth= 56cm x 14cm. Fits most average sized ponies and yearlings, 12hh and under, 140-225kg.
Cob: – Circumference x depth = 61cm x 18cm. Suitable for large ponies, small horses, small-faced horses such as Arabians, 13-14hh, 225-360kg.
Horse: – Circumference x depth= 66cm x 19cm. Fits average sized horses, 15-16hh, 360-500kg.
Large Horse: – Circumference x depth= 71cm x 20cm. For warmbloods and large-faced horses, 17hh and over, 500-720kg.
Draft Horse: – Circumference x depth = 76cm x 21cm. Suitable for very large breeds such as Belgians, Percherons and Clydesdales.
